Prevention underpins all our work and is our core value.
We feel that any dental work should be carried out with a view to improving the stability of a mouth or within an already stable environment.
Education and motivation are the key, as success is 90% dependant upon the patient’s own efforts.
This is why talking to our patients is so important and why our dentists and hygienists will spend part of their time discussing dental health and giving feedback.
Prevention may include the following
- Oral hygiene advice
- Dietary advice
- Tooth wear advice
- Scaling and polishing
- Fluoride application
- Replacing poorly contoured fillings and crowns
- Splint therapy to reduce tooth wear in patients who may grind their teeth
- Mouthguards for sport
The best prevention starts as early as possible. Here a young patient has their teeth disclosed to show where the hidden germs are in the plaque!
